35% cash dividend approved in the 18th AGM of Meghna Cement Mills Ltd

18th AGM of Meghna Cement Mills Ltd. was held at Bashundhara Convention Center, Baridhara, Dhaka on 20/06/2010. A large number of shareholders attended the meeting. Company’s Sponsor Director Mahaboob Morshed Hassan presided over the meeting. Among the Directors Md. Tawhidul Islam, Maynal Hossain Chowdhury, Engineer Md. Mahbub-uj-Zaman, Kazi Abul Kalam, Brig. Gen (Retd.) Ahmed Muktadir Arif and Company Secretary M. Naseemul Hye FCS, other senior executives, high officials and auditors of the Company were present in the meeting. The Director’s Report as well as the Audited Accounts of the Company for the year 2009 were received and adopted in the AGM. The meeting approved the increase of authorised share capital of the Company from Tk. 40 crores to Tk. 500 crores. The proposal of 35% cash dividend for the year 2009 was approved in the meeting. A large number of shareholders participated in the discussion. Most of the shareholders expressed that by the able leadership of Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Chairman of the company, despite all odds in the local and international market, the company kept its journey foward by achieving its 44% sales growth and 473% profit growth resulting declaration of high rate of dividend for 2009. The Shareholders expressed that for the sake of industrialization and economic development of the country the entrepreneurs like Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan shall be patronized by the Goverment as well as by the state administration. They also prayed for early recovery of illness of the Chairman of the Company and expected his full engagement in the business operation and promotional activities soon. The Shareholders present expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Board of Directors of the Company for consistent dividend policy and protection of the interest of the general shareholders and hoped that it will be increased to more extent in future.
